A few FOs and a couple WIPs!

I'm making good on my post about keeping up with my posts and my knitting and I have a couple of FOs and a couple of WIPs to show off.

Firstly, here's a better picture of my Mother of Dragons shrug:

Secondly, I spun a beautiful new skin of yarn using some merino wool that a friend of mine picked up on a trip she took. I call it, Cream in my Coffee.

And finally, with Giftmas approaching, I have things to knit for little kids. I have three little girls and one little boy for whom to knit.  I am making three different ragdolls, one for each girl, and a ragdoll puppy dog for the little boy.

Here is the first doll:

And, of course, the cat had to check her out, too.

More posts, soon! T'is the season to knit things, so a-knitting I shall go!

Raggedy Anne part 2

Awhile back I spun my first yarn. It was a beautiful brilliant red top merino. Being a complete noob, I didn't realise that it is okay if you overspin your yarn and unspun a lot of it . Needless to say, it was felty looking and ugly.

Now that I have a couple more skeins under my belt, not to mention the awesome new spindle, I took it upon myself to "fix" the yarn.

I spun about 50 grams of yarn, made an Andean bracelet on Justin's recommendation, and plied it to itself.

Here is the old Raggedy Anne (before I untwisted it):

Here is the new, plied, Raggedy Anne:

The Cursed Socks

They're finished :D

Technically, the beautiful mooshy yarn was cursed. BUT I broke the curse by finishing a pair of awesome Mystery Socks.

Requiem

I finished spinning a little bit of some fiber that Cindy gave me. It's soft and smooshy and purple and reminded me of the powers of the Nictus. Since I already have a spun yarn called Nictus I decided to name this yarn after one of the enemies in City of Heroes, Requiem.

Here's a picture of the skein. Sooooo purty!

Almost a full year of FOs

Wow, it's been way too long since I last updated this page. My apologies to anyone following.

I have a huge number of finished objects to update with. It's just been much busier for me, so updating the page with the FOs, along with Rav with FOs, as well as shouldering two feisty crotchfruit is a lot of work.

I've been enjoying my knitting group at Whole Foods. The people I've met and the friends I've made are just amazing. I look forward to going every week.

I've brought knitting travelling to Mexico and to Thunder Bay. So many wonderful memories this year.

I have one more commission to finish up - which means maybe one more blog post this week. Won't that be novel? I'd better get back to knitting, eh?

Go just past the cut to check out all my finished projects.

FO - Mixology

After over a year of work and procrastinating, I have finally finished the Mixology sweater for my father in law.   Yarn used: Noro Silk Garden and Asian Trends Del Cerro, 100% Merino

I hope it fits him.  It fits me, pregnant, so it should fit him.

Hope, hope, hope.

FOs!

The knitting train continues to chug along.

I've finished knitting up with the Untastic yarn I picked up: I had to buy the Heartbreaker colourway. I call it early labour yarn because the exciting colours will probably trigger early labour when I look at them.

Socks!

April 30th was the DKC Knitters Frolic in downtown Toronto.  I arrived late and didn't bring a lot of cash and was actually very frugal with my spending.

I bought 12 hand made stitch markers for $10 and a skein of this super yummy merino/cashmere/nylon sock yarn spun by a local dude. Yep. By a dude.  The colour was really tempting and I couldn't resist, but unlike when I usually buy sock yarn and try to knit socks, I started and finished the project in a week. (instead of within months or years)

The socks? Monkey. No purl monkey to be specific.  They turned out really nicely but had a bit more yellow than I anticipated. In spite of this, they're super comfortable and super bright. I absolutely love the striping and am pleased with the softness of the yarn. Definitely a new around the house footwear thing.

FO - Bulletproof socks

After almost a year of knitting them, I have finally finished those bloody bulletproof socks. I thought I'd never get them done, lol.

Ever since I started these socks, they've kind of become the stuff of legends at my LYS because they're knitted with 2mm needles. I'd estimate probably about 20,000 total stitches in these socks. Took way too long. First sock took 2.5 months, second sock took 10 months... but now that they're done, oh my god. They are awesome! :)

Here are the pics.

More WIPs

Started a sweater for Nicholas:
Nick's Sweater WIP

And am almost finished the hat for Hong:
Hong's Hat WIP

Still working on Kat's purse.

Got some new yarn in my stash too! Got these yummies at the Stitch 'n Pitch:
Red Heart Soft Touch SRK Perth

I have plans for the sexy green yarn, but haven't decided what to do with the soft touch yarn. I also got 3 more skeins of that beautiful malabrigo merino wool. I'm going to use that to either make myself a shrug, or make myself a winter set. (hat, scarf, mitts)

What do you think I should make?
